Rick is an author, instructor, international and award-winning photographer who has published 36 paper books, including Secrets of HDR Photography, Exploring the Light, Digital Photography Secrets, and Studio Lighting Secrets.

With technology on the rise, Rick also has two apps on iTunes: "24/7 Photo Buffet" and "Social Media Marketing for Photographers". Rick's book, Flying Flowers won the coveted Golden Light Award, and his book Hide and See Under the Sea won the Ben Franklin Award.

He has photographed in almost 100 countries around the world, gives more than two-dozen photography workshops (including private workshops) and presentations around the world each year. Rick co-founded the Digital Photography Experience with Juan Pons. DPE is on-line digital photography learning center that offers podcasts and articles - and more! Rick also hosts five shows on kelbytraining.com. Rick, who has been nominated for the Photoshop Hall of Fame, is considered one of today's top digital imaging experts, cutting through lots of Photoshop "speak," making it fun, easy and rewarding to work and play in the digital darkroom. When asked about his photo specialty, Rick says, "My specialty is not specializing."

In photography, it's all about light: See in the light, controlling the light and playing with the light. Rick Sammon is a master at all three. This two-hour session will be divided into two parts. In Part One, Rick will give a slide presentation on how to see the light (contrast, brightness, color and quality of light in a scene), how to control the light (with reflectors, diffusers and a flash) and how to play with the light (in the digital darkroom). Rick will illustrate his presentation with pictures from his world-wide travels and his many books and apps. He'll also share his philosophies for photographing people. In Part Two, Rick will give a live demo, along with lighting expert David Piazza, on how to turn a snapshot into a great shot using light modifiers and a flash.
